Grams to pounds converter

Gram amounts commonly come from ingredient labels, kitchen scales and small parcels. When a shipping form or stock record expects a larger unit, preserve amounts below one whole unit as decimals. The conversion changes the label and number together; it does not change how much material you have.

One gram is about 0.0022046226 pounds. The gram is one thousandth of a kilogram, the SI base unit of mass.

Multiply the number of grams by 0.0022046226. For example, 500 g × 0.0022046226 = 1.102311 lb. To go the other way, divide by 0.0022046226.

Multiply by 0.0022. That is 0.2% low of the exact factor 0.0022046226, so 500 g comes out as 1.1 lb instead of 1.1023.
