How to choose a build calculator
Measure the surface or volume you need
Use room area for floors and walls, tile for coverage and boxes, and concrete for a pour's volume and purchase quantities. Separate the net measured quantity from waste and rounding to whole packs. Openings, coat counts and thickness can change the estimate substantially. Record the dimensions and units before comparing suppliers so each quote covers the same job. A supplier's usable coverage or bag yield belongs in the calculation when available.
Keep ordering assumptions visible
A geometric quantity is only one part of an order. Check minimum deliveries, bag sizes, waste allowances, fees and whether surplus can be returned. Use the concrete comparison guide to distinguish volume placed from volume billed. For paint, coverage depends on the product and surface, so the label is a better input than a general average. These estimates do not establish structural safety, code compliance or installation requirements.
