US pints to US cups converter

US liquid pints can be restated as smaller kitchen measures when portioning a recipe. The US pint is not the same size as a British pint. The conversion concerns liquid volume and should not be used as a direct weight conversion for flour or other ingredients.

One US pint is exactly 2 US cups. The US liquid pint is 16 US fluid ounces, exactly 473.176473 mL; the UK pint is 568.26125 mL.

Multiply the number of US pints by 2. For example, 1 pt × 2 = 2 cup. To go the other way, divide by 2.

Both are in use. The US customary cup in recipes is 236.588 mL. US nutrition labels use a rounded "legal cup" of 240 mL (21 CFR 101.9), and the metric cup used in Australia, New Zealand and Canada is 250 mL.

Accuracy depends on your inputs and the method's assumptions.
